Our Story

Giving From the Heart started in 2018 when I was shocked to find out that thousands of dollars' worth of good food, that was totally consumable, was being trashed because it was past the "sell by" date. I was determined to figure out a way to put this waste to good use. What started with 1 volunteer and 4 stores, quickly grew to 15 volunteers and 35 7-Eleven stores. At that time we were providing over 3,500 meals per month to local unhoused and low income organizations. Due to the pandemic, our environment changed and adjustments had to be made. Today our volunteers and stores continue to supply close to 1,500 meals per month.

Over the years we have expanded our reach beyond the 7-Eleven project. These projects include addressing the needs of the unhoused by providing brown bag meals and organizing clothing drives and hygiene product donations. During the pandemic we joined with local restaurants and caterers to bring meals to our front line workers and homeless shelters. Our current projects include our Annual Holiday Toy Drive, fundraising for cancer families/research and supporting the educational needs of children both locally and in India.

We are dedicated in joining hands with local businesses, individuals and nonprofits to help inspire, nurture and address the wants and needs within our community.
