Our Story

Hello, my name is Renu Singh, founder of Giving From the Heart Foundation. My project started almost 2 years ago when I was shocked to find out that thousands of dollars worth of good food that was totally consumable was being trashed because it was past the "sell by" date. So my wheels started turning and I was determined to figure out a way to not let this get trashed and put it to good use. So here we are, between 8 volunteers and 20 stores that believe in my cause, we are supplying almost 2,500 meals per month directly to the homeless as well as the less fortunate that live in low income/special need homes. I am currently partnered with two non-profit organizations-Hope of the Valley and LA Family Housing that help me deliver this food the same day that it is picked up to the people in need. In addition, I am working with local businesses to donate other items such as clothes and hygiene products. We hope to expand our donations that are not just limited to food.
This is not even a drop in the ocean as our homeless problems only increase and there are thousands of families that are not even able to provide themselves with one nutritional meal a day.
It would be absolutely phenomenal if you can join hands with our project whether it be a volunteer for 7-Eleven pickups, a family/group to host a dinner at Hope of the Valley or LA Family Housing, or partner as a corporation to provide food or other product necessities to those in need. You would be giving back to the community in a BIG way and make a difference in the lives of many that don't have to worry about where their next meal or products are coming from.
Please follow this link to understand how you as an individual, group or corporation are protected by the Good Samaritan Food Donation Act. This is normally the fear that people have when it comes to donating but once they are made aware of this Federal Law, that fear is immediately removed.
Once again, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to tell you about my project. I really hope that we can grow this together by leaps and bounds. As you know, this is a daily need for the less fortunate. We may not be able to feed every hungry person in our communities but we can surely save good food, hygiene products, and extra apparel from being trashed and create awareness to others that may be able to do the same. What a difference we can make together. We are dedicated in joining hands with local organizations to help inspire, nurture, and evolve our community.

Warm Regards,
Renu Singh
